Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Pleasant suprise

I road my Peugoet PX10 single speed to the mall today. When I came out there was a note on my bike "... Cool bike. Thanks for the eyefull".
I know it's a small thing, but it really made my day!

I did a bunch of designs for reproduction- sold out ..haahaha.

It's only because you have such excellent taste in fixie frames.

THat's happened to me a few times, usually the occasional "Nice bike, man" comment but twice I've had someone (usually a fellow biker) talk to me about my bike. It's always fun. One of the times I was standing outside the Fireside Bowl (a punk/hardcore/indie venue) after a show and I saw a guy checking out my bike intently from all sorts of angles while it was locked to the bike rack. I came up to him later and we chatted. He'd never ridden SS (or fixed for that matter) and was curious and had been admiring it for a while (SS/fixed that is). I wonder if he converted.

My PX10 is pretty much stock. I found it (with the crappy Simplex derailleurs on it) at a thrift store for $15. It was pretty dirty, but once I got it clean, there were only a few tiny chips in the paint and no corrosion on any of the shiny parts. It even had the original brake pads and they showed almost no wear. It's white with black lugs, black bar tape, and black brake cables.

One of the great things about the frame is that there is only one braze-on on the entire thing and that's a cable guide on the right chain stay.

It has the original platform pedals, but the leather straps broke the first time I tried to cinch them down.

Until I find a really good deal on a flip/flop hub, it going to stay a SS.

Yeah, I love the cleanliness of my PX10E, as well. As near to braze on-free as you'll find. It's not stock, by any means (My 72 is). Stronglight cranks, weinmann brakes, suzue hubs and wheels I laced up. Had to change out the BB spindle and the lower cup and race on the headset. It's rare to find one with a real clean paint job, you got lucky. Love the chromed rear dropouts, they get a lot of second looks. They're beautiful bikes, esp. the models with the more ornate nervex lugs. Enjoy the ride!

I saw a tasty little fixie in London the other day, and wanted to exactly that, but did I have a pen and paper on me? Now I always carry some Post-It's and a pen, for just such an occasion :)

I had a good experience today. I found a shop in my area that sells many fixies/single speeds, and I had an awesome talk with the owner of the shop. He said he could do a custom build for me, and really on the cheap, so, I'm happy.
