Actually, "mule" and "fanny" are the euphemisms. A euphemism is a mild term that is used in place of a harsh one.
Incidentally, a synonym, as all 50+ers know, is the word that you use when you don't know how to spell the one you first thought of.

Can two terms be euphemisms of one another if they are of equivalent severity?
My knowledge of cyclocross techniques can keep me from getting bogged-down in mud, but they cannot prevent me from getting bogged-down in semantics...
Anyway...Fizik Pave. Great saddle. Twenty dollars on eBay. Doesn't require padded shorts.

OT, but I'd recommend the Specialized Toupe (non-gel), 143 wide version. It doesn't dig in and the saddle supports your butt instead of splitting you in two.

I ride a Fizik Pave. Put a lot of miles on it. Very comfortable for those longer rides.

Funny thing about saddles is that they are not funny- They have no sense of humour and have a sadistic streak to them. Some of them are not strong willed and submit to the butt that covers them after a few weeks/ months- but some of them hang out for years and just never give in. Then there are others that have a sting in the tail. They appear not to be too bad but never quite give you the feeling that it is not there- you can always feel it but it doesn't get to the comfortable stage.
Then one day- you decide to go to your local LBS and see what they can suggest. When you pick yourself up off the floor at the amount it is going to cost you- you find out that even expensive saddles do not suit every Butt.
Saddles and butts are very particular. A saddle that fits one butt- will be a bag of nails to another. So there is no saddle advice that I can offer you- other than offer you the faint hope that eventually- you will find the one that fits.
