About a month ago, I pulled the trigger and purchased the Cervelo P2C. Yesterday, I got the race wheel setup. It is equipped with D/A throughout and Easton Carbon TT bars with carbon brake levers. The cranks are 54/42 and the cassette is a ten speed D/A 11/23. We took a stock P2C and stripped the frame. I retained the stock wheels for training. I rode the bike with the stem flipped down and it is okay but for training and until my neck stretches a bit, I flipped it up. The ride is a total rush and with my TT training and races on the tandem last year, riding the Cervelo is no problem.

For race wheels, I chose the Zipp disc Sub9 and the HED.3c. I may be one of the first to get the Sub9 since Zipp just started shipping it last Thursday. http://www.zipp.com/Products/Wheels/tabid/85/CategoryID/2/List/1/Level/1/ProductID/136/Default.aspx?SortField=ISBN%2CISBN According to Zipp, the Sub9 can generate a negative drag coefficient at certain wind angles.

The HED.3c is very interesting technology. Each spoke is shaped like an airplane wing with a leading and trailing edge. It is optimized to reduce drag in at certain angles of yaw into the wind. http://www.hedwheels.com/default.asp?chapterid=5&langid=1

Tires are Tufo tubulars 195.

My wife and I are racing on Saturday in Canada 9.7 mile TT as individuals and then race another TT on the tandem. It has been very windy lately and hopefully the wind will die down for Saturday. My wife is angling and suggesting that she race the Sub9 / Hed setup and I race on the Easton Tempest IIs. We will see.:)

Do you know if you are allowed to enter the TT event on a recumbent?

One of the members of my club runs this event. It is a training ride designed to allow riders to test equipment and get times on the course which are posted on the web site. It is not a race per se i.e. no license required. You would enter the Merckx division which is where riders ride whatever bike they have with no aero equipment. I do not see any reason to exclude recumbents.

If you want to do it, I can check with the organizer to see if there are any limitations on equipment. However, this one may be full. It is limited to 100 riders per our permit.

Do deep rim wheels (43mm) count as aero equipment?

Nah. We try to group riders together so that the times, speed and rider spacing make sense. Aero equipment is a bike that is either a TT bike or one that looks like one and a rider who has other aero equipment. If you want to ride and test yourself against the course and clock on your road bike then do the Merckx division. The point is try to find grouping that matches your equipment so that the time will reflect your ability against others.

Sweet Bike!... I didn't even hear about the TT. I just got a new set of Mavics, I sure would like to have tested them out.

I ended up getting the Mavic Cosmic Elites (newer this year). I have a set on my Trek and they great for me. Maybe slightly heavier than yours, and really stiff, but are monsters for desending really acurate in the corners, fast on the flats and headwinds which I need since I am a bit of a moth for my size : (. They worked so well, and with a good deal I decided to go with them on the Klein. Got an Sworks Long Stem moved seat forward for more power over the spindle. Lots of drastic, pretty crazy changes before a 560+ mile ride next week, I even tweaked my cleats. Lot's of no, no's, but the bike feels awsome now.

I got them on sale at Pacbike and got a 15% discount for the ALC ride sponsership, so I'm very happy. Just wish I had had that set up for the Davis.

Very very nice bike. I'm jealous for sure. I always like the P2 over the P3, mostly just because of the lines of the frame (P2 for some reason to me just seems to have a nicer flow).

If I built up a bike on a website, it would probably look pretty much the same as what you have there. Congrats, that is a sweet purchase.

Sweet ride!

Remind me not to ride before you, but after you or Velodiva. Holding those wheels would be a privilege, for sure.

The winds died down a little today so I took the bike with the new wheels out for a practice ride on the TT course. It was really fast and different than riding the course on the training wheels. The wind was starting to gust a little and the effect on the bike was more pronounced with the rear disc. I was surprised how smooth the ride was since there are no spokes.

For the race tomorrow, if it is really windy, I will use the training wheels. It should be okay early in the morning. I may take it a little easier tomorrow until I get more practice time with this setup.

I saw Ty and his wife riding. They got the first look at the bike.:)
