This is my newest bike, it is a quasi replacement for my old Raleigh Sports beater. Once it is completely set up it should become my main utility bike.
It is a 2008 Redline R530.
Basic Specs:
Aluminum Frame, Nexus Inter7 IGH hub, roller brakes, slime filled tubes, kevlar tires, rear rack, suspension fork, suspension seat post, cushy seat, rear rack.
Good things IMHO: IGH, Roller Brakes, fenders, rear rack, braze ons for two water bottles, Dutch style wheel lock and generator (not sure how this one works yet)
Bad Things: IMHO Cushy Seat, Suspension Seat post. The rims look weak to me, they are Weinman Taurus Double wall alloy, but no eyelets. We shall see how they stand up to my use.
Things I wish it came with: Generator hub and lights, better pedals.
Upgrades (current and planned) Brooks B67 saddle (installed), Axa Defender lock with the loop chain,(installed) non suspension seatpost, generator powered LED lights. D Lumotec Oval Plus (http://www.hiawathacyclery.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=51), and a Spanninga Vector tailight (http://velo-orange.com/spvexs.html).Generator yet to be determined. I want a Nexus hub...if I can find one with roller brake. I also want a set of Basil Karavan 2 (http://velo-orange.com/baka2pa.html) bags for it.
First thought when I saw the bike; Dayum this thing is HUGE! It sits several inches taller than my old Raleigh, due mainly in part to the 700c wheels. That does improve the over all ground clearance. I don't particularly like the sloping top tube, but can live with it. I will update this as I continue to upgrade and ride it more.
