Foo - A stranger was damn nice to me today ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was jamming down the boulevard laid back in my recumbent and when I got home I couldn't
find my keys. Phone rings ... YMCA calling to report that someone saw my keys fall out of my shorts
as I was riding and turned them in at the Y (my keys have a little YMCA barcode tab on them).
Sometimes this world will surprise you ... :)

Nice news to hear in today's selfish world. Were you able to find out who it was so you can thank him?

Yay!! I love to hear this as I'm usually the one going out of my way to spy something on the road, etc - play with traffic and the rest of the ride group in order to go back and pick up this stuff - and I make the effort to turn in the keys, etc!! And I've never heard back from any of the at least 7 sets of keys I've turned in (some sets of keys have company ID tags on them so I know where to send them - after first calling).

Oh and you must send some thanks to this person too!!!!!!

We were returning from shuttling a vehicle after a downriver WW race and I spied a set of keys in the middle of a dirt road. We stopped and picked them up and went to the awards ceremony.

When we got to the parking lot, I walked through and was pushing the "Panic" button on the keyless entry fob. A windstar went off just as the owner was walking up to her minivan.

She hugged me and said she loved me. :D

I played a wedding gig a few months ago at a party house out on one of the lakes (http://www.esperanzamansion.com/main.html)nearby, and when I changed into my tux in the men's room, I left my wallet on the TP dispenser. A bit later I realized it, and found it waiting for me at the front desk. If that had happened at a bar gig, it would be looooooong gone. There's a lot to be said for playing civilized gigs.

I think the news perpetuates the thought that the world is an evil place. One of the reasons I went on my trip last summer was to see for myself what people are like. We live in such a removed society, we don't experience each other the way we should, atleast thats the way I see it.

The people I met from bike forums are all people that if i'd lived closer to them, I would be friends with, and would open my home to any one of them should they ever find themselves in CT. It's to bad people follow steriotypes, I think if they got out and wandered more, they would see the world in a much different light.....

years ago, I found a driver's license outside of my apartment. I mailed it, and she was most appreciative.

I would have made copies of your keys then burgled your place to steal your bikes. The world is sick and twisted... or is it just me?:D

Nope. Totally anonymous nice woman is all the Y would tell me ... but what comes around goes around;
she's due for something nice to happen to her. :)

People only do nice things to set you up and fool you into thinking there's "nice" people out there. It's all part of the con game.

By the way...I won the lottery but need some help in transferring some funds. I'm willing to give a percentage for anyone willing to help me out. Of course you'll have to meet with my agent in a location yet to be determined...

Yep, thanks, I would have said it sooner if you had a return address.
