Everytime I see mtb pics, they make me want to hurl. It just seems like everyone's riding a bike that cost more than I've bought most of my cars for, and almost every time I see someone riding one of these debt machines, the riders ride like their having epileptic fits. It seems like bike technology has made everyone into a fast rider, but being fast doesn't mean you're in control. It's really sad... So, am I an old grouch or is everyone really a poser? :twitchy:

Just so you all know where I'm coming from, I'm a relative late-comer to the sport as I've only been mountain biking since '91.

What about road bikers riding road bikes that are insanely expensive? Where the extra money doesn't account for nearly as much functionality as a more expensive MTB? Just wondering.

True, but it's really hard to tear up asphalt if you're a roadie poser, and then, who really cares? I see people ruining amazing single track, because they've never taken the time to learn how to properly ride.

Well yes, but your OP is in reference to posers. A person with a nice bike that doesn't know how to ride it, doesn't make them a poser, that makes them inconsiderate and an ******* for ruining trails. :)

If they continue to ride they're bound to improve whether they mean to or not. Everyone's a noob in the beginning ya grouch. :D

Now if they're just inconsiderate jerks cross-cutting trails then you have a point.
