hey guys,

I've got this little bistro (family business, very time consuming) -- and we've gone for wayyy too long without a proper logo. so, I've got a good idea for one, but I'm the type of person who likes to do as much as possible on my own, if I can. so: does anyone have any pointers to programs I might try? we're not talking about anything very elaborate here, just something nice and crisp and spare and with that certain clean aesthetic look to it. I'll be looking to put this on promotional materials like pens and hip black tshirts and maybe those soft fitted ballcaps. of course, I know there're all those things in the racks at BestBuy, but I was hoping someone knew of a little downloadable free/shareware program that someone put up somewhere, you know, the kind of thing people've worked on to practice.

cheers,

alex.

I used h-tile to resize a photo of one of my sculpts as the avatar.

I haven't used it, but I've heard quite a few good things about it. http://www.gimp.org/ And of course there are photoshop, painter, and paintshop pro trials available.

aha! thanks, jeff; thanks, bigfloppyL. I did assume there were those trials available, but I also assumed they wouldn't allow you to save your work or whatever. should've looked without assuming, eh!

thanks for the links! if I actually come up with anything worth posting, I'll show you guys what my tinkering produced.

p.s. y'know, jeff, I actually use those very same peppers in a few dishes. how did you know? :-)
