I've been researching the dinotte rear light for a couple of days. Some say the superflash is good enough. Wondering if anyone has regretted making the switch from superflash to dinotte?

Switch? Actually I run both, the superfash on the back of my helmet and the Dinotte just under my seat. I'll vary the power of the Dinotte depending on conditions. I like both for different reasons. The superflash is cheaper and has a long run time. The Dinotte is simply bright.

Ditto. Run both on my commute.
Superflash on flash to get attention and Dinotte to stand out.
I work 3rd shift.
Also have a Cateye.
Cannot have to many lights.

I like the superflash because it is simple if I decide to ride a different bike, just unclip it from my seat bag and put on another bike.. 10 seconds and done..

No. My rear lighting setup has gone through many changes since I started commuting a little over a year ago. Here's the evolution:

1. Trek generic 5 LED blinky by itself
Not impressive at all...quickly started looking for extra lights to add.

2. Trek 5 LED blinky plus Tigerlight flashlight (rechargeable 6V NiMH halogen light) with red lens
The Tigerlight put out a very bright red light, but it is fairly sharply focused and not the best for a taillight since if the vehicle behind me isn't at a good angle it's not very visible.

3. Trek 5 LED blinky plus Tigerlight plus PB Superflash
Discovered the power that is the Superflash, ordered 2 more

4. #3 plus 2 more Superflashes(click here for video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_GErvyBLQ8)
Now we're getting somewhere...this is an impressive setup worthy of posting on YouTube, lol.

5. 3 Superflashes, 1 Viewpoint Flashpoint, and the Trek blinky(click here for video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxkjQdLj9uA)
The Tigerlight fell off my trunk bag (slipped out of the elastic cord) so I stopped using that. Bought and added the Flashpoint on recommendations from here.

6. 3 Superflashes plus 1 Dinotte 140L(click here for video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8Psfth23Uk)
I have been introduced to the power that is the Dinotte and I like it.

7. 3 Superflashes, 2 Dinotte 140Ls, and Viewpoint Flashpoint(click here for video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCWWD-6tvD4)
This was almost too much for me.

8. 1 Superflash, 2 Dinotte 140Ls, and Viewpoint Flashpoint(click for video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36agh3vxTEE)
I started using panniers instead of a trunk bag, and had difficulty finding a place to mount the other 2 Superflashes and found they weren't necessary with the Dinottes.

9. 2 Dinotte 140Ls with or without a Superflash
I have recently been running this setup. The batteries in the Superflash died a while ago and I haven't replaced them yet. The Superflash isn't necessary but it is a nice backup light so I'll probably throw it back on.

Very nice, I had watched your videos on youtube several times, nice to see you on here and to get a play by play for each video...

I agree with not regretting the Dinotte, seriously the first night you fire that thing you will be absolutely blown away. For months I would find any excuse to ride at night just to play with the light. You look behind you and see everything that is remotely reflective light up. Its always fun too to set up different lights a good distance away and see the difference, or have someone ride away from you and switch the lights to see the difference haha.

I even got to the point of having a friend ride off to somewhere unknown to me in the neighborhood and downtown, and surprise me with different light set-ups. Not necessarilly knowing where to look for him, I would drive around in my car trying not to "look" for him till i randomly came upon him to see what it was like coming up on each light set-up while driving a car... It was pretty fun for me and made it blatently clear how much faster you pick up the Dinotte while driving in a car.

That being said, I sometimes ride a lot of short hops at night so it can kind of be a pain if im only going a few blocks to take off and put back on the Dinotte several times, when with others all I have to do is unclip it. Now its really just a minor annoyance, as im talking only about 30 seconds (uses an easy o-ring attachment style, fiddling with the velcro for the battery is the bulk of the time) to remove/install the Dinotte which isnt much, but compared to the 1 sec of a clip on light it seems laborious, plus i use a front Dinotte 200l which adds to the time... But it is well worth it!

So all in all I still use the superflash for real quick hops, or if im just going to the bars and dont have a backpack or jacket to stash the Dinotte front/rear lights in. But even then or if its for more than just a few blocks its the Dinotte all the way. And now I'm completely spoiled to it, as when i use the superflash I feel like there is nothing back there when i turn around and dont see the road and everything else reflective blaze red!

It rocks and with the short $100 dollar sale going on with Dinotte's front/amber/rear lights its now a lot more reasonable, and easier to talk yourself into getting one. Even so i would gladly pay the full $179 or whatever if mine were ever broken/stolen if that tells you anything...

I also run both the Superflash and Dinotte. In Maine the law requires a solid tail light, and the Dinotte fits the bill. It's brightness even on low gives much more presence than any blinkie could. I run the SF on flash also just in case, and makes for a good backup too.
