In the case where the wishbone is threaded, is the only way to position the brake correctly the use of washers? I'm trying to install a Shimano BR-7800 rear brake (first bike build).

OK - disregard the rookie bike-builder. Finally figured out that a pivot nut was already in the frame (stuck). It must have been left in by the previous owner of the frame.

Removed it, and all is well.
