Commuting - The Famous Yorick

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If everything works as planned, a picture of the famous Yorick should be attached. I took this in front of Mardi Gras Fountain, located on the lakefront in New Orleans. He had a nice bath and new chain Sunday and thought he'd show off a little. You should see how clean his little cogs and chainrings are.
Yorick's kit:
Surly CrossCheck fork
Cinelli red/white/blue stars and stripes bar tape (note the tasteful red, white and blue electrical tape finish wrap near the stem)
Vistalite CODE 15 dual headlights
Topeak Road Morph pump
Shimano 105 components
Look Pedals
Brooks Team Professional saddle
Blackburn ER2 rack
Carradice SQR "Slim" bag
If you're nice, one day I'll post a picture of Dolce. Va Va Voom!

Yorick's looking pretty spanky in my eyes :)

Those cogs sure look shiny - I'm not convinced my chainset was that clean when new.
Nice :)

Nice bike. Couldn't work out what the blue stuff in the background was then realised it was a clear sky. :)

Thanks, guys! Chewa, I guess a clear sky this time of year would be unfamiliar in your neck of the woods. Richard, that's the cleanest his gears have been since they were new. I always brush his teeth when I clean the chain, but so much gunk had collected down deep between the cogs I stripped the cassette and washed each cog and spacer. Think I'll start doing that every few chain cleanings.
Buddy, it was a beautiful day. The kind I hate to tell you poor guys up north about. Well, not that YOU are up north, Buddy and Chris. I picked this spot to take advantage of the low late afternoon sun. I have always said I feel lucky to have a beautiful ride home each day. I will do as Richard did and take a few pictures to illustrate. I ordered a new digital camera which should arrive tomorrow, 12/6. Maybe I'll try it out on the way home.
Chris, I take that as high praise coming from Mr. Spanky himself. :D
Ba-Dg-Er, snow in Flagstaff? Already? I mean, I know you guys get some, but I figured January/February.

The year I lived in Flagstaff, it snowed quite a bit...much more than we get in Iowa. Iowa is a lot colder, but Flag gets difinitely gets more snow.
I like the bike, Rainman. I am looking to get a touring/commuting bike, something along the lines of yours. I want something other than an expensive MTB or a lesser utility bike. But my GF says I can only have two bikes in the house (no garage). How does one reason with a woman?

I just bought her a bike this Fall. Maybe I should buy her a garage. (For my bikes, not her).
Hey RainmanP, I totally missed this thread! Yorick is coolio man! He(she?) looks happy :D You take good care Yorick, I can tell.
What a magnificent machine!
Where's the lock(s)??
Any bike that nice is sure to get lifted! Better keep Yorick locked up tight when you aren't around.

That's the guy, Pete! Though, technically, he has only "borne me on his back" something between 200 and 300 times. You can tell he is a fellow of infinite jest. He has to be to go out in public looking so funny. Excellent fancy? Just check out that bar tape!
Mike, fear not! The lock is in the bag
