Hey everyone...ever tried to ride on pure ICE???...its pretty cool. Let some air out of your tires, and start rockin'. Be carefull though...its pretty easy to fall...i know. Anyone else ridden on just ice?...frozen lakes?...etc...very cool
I've played a lot of hockey over the years and I do balance exercises;but nothing can prepare you for riding on ice. I prefer snow.
Your best bet is some MTB armor (elbow and knee pads),since you will go down and pulling a muscle can take a long time to heal.
Regards.
Yeah, it's kind of spooky, I suppose that is why it is so cool. I tried it at night. The ice creaks, it's a bit unnerving. Still fun.
The only ice I've had real problems with is that stuff they call "black ice." Found at intersections and stop signs, where cars idle, the exhaust drips to the pavement were it freezes. The chemicals in this frozen stuff make it look sort of like pavement, but is slippery than hell. I went down at a stop sign and landed on my sit bone. It hurt for several weeks afterwards. Be careful.
