Ok, I tried the search but didnt come up with anything useful.

This last year I have been working in college athletics. It is a 10 month position and I was under the impression that it was 10 month pay and my health insurance would still carry over into the 2 months off. I guess it doesn't!

I just found this out yesterday and I want to race tomorrow. As a young'in who is not to familiar with the insurance world (im only 24) I was hoping someone could help me out with this. I know USA Cycling has general liability and rider accident insurance. If I was to get hurt at the race tomorrow would USA Cycling cover any medical fees for uninsured racers?

Or is it better to just not race, buy something like this (http://www.adventureadvocates.com/usacycling/) and wait for that to kick in before racing agan?

*note to self: need to find a real full time, 12-month paying AND insuring job

Yeah, sounds like a prudent idea to skip it. Even past the $5k, the $25K limit sucks too. If you come out with a long-term major injury, that's just a drop in the bucket.
