Living Car Free - Trying to Find a Bike Trailer

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm hoping Im in the right forum, since the goal is to reduce my dependence on the car:)
I'm trying to find more information about a bike trailer that I saw while visiting Mackinac Island last weekend. It's rather simple, almost like a box on wheels, but heavy duty and mounts some how to the seat post. I dont know the name or the brand, so it's been difficult to search for it :/ There are metal versions and wooden versions, some deeper then others.
I did find a picture....can anyone help me find some more info on this? It might be what I need to carry the groceries and do errands:)
Thanks Much

I forget the company name but we sell them at the bike shop I work at. I will try to remember to get the name tomorrow.

look on craigslist for the used toddler haulers. older ones go for about 50 bones and work fine to haul a lot of loads.

oh, ha, and i just saw that you're in michigan. what town? we're in eastern side of grand rapids. let us know if you ever want some help in connecting to other bikers around here, or contributing to the car-free type movement. i'd personally like to push more for a bike collective here.
That rig looks like it would be good for going on slight downhills, and absolute hell going uphill; a death-trap going fast downhill if you have to brake!

That's a honkin' big trailer. I'd go with something smaller for a general purpose utility trailer.
Most of the island is flat, so big trailers arent a big deal there. I won't say I'm stuck on this one, but that sorta style. A Box on wheels persay...it just seems more geared for what we need, hauling loads short distances as opposed to the smaller, single wheel ones for long distance trips.
c_dinsmore Midland-Saginaw-Bay City. We're not very bike friendly here (I havent seen a single share the road sign for instance :( )

+1 for craigslist. I just picked an almost brand new Instep trailer for $40. I use it for hauling groceries, recycling, and hauling stuff to work.

Artkansas,
How do you like the flatbed compared to the truss-frame baw trailer?

Well, I've never seen the truss-frame ones except in pictures, so I can't compare. As big as the 64AW is, I decided to put the plywood insert in so I wouldn't be limited by buckets sizes. And I plan to use it for some odd things like a mobile camera platform. It's big enough, I guess I could even curl up and sleep in it.

A lot of those are for heavier hauling. Personally, I use my single wheel BOB a lot more than the big trailer. It's fast and will still hold 75+ lbs. of stuff. That's a lot of groceries if you add a back rack and backpack. Once you're beyond 100 lbs. in a trailer it starts getting pretty sluggish in my experience.

I found a kid's Burley trailer on Freecycle and converted it to a utility trailer. Trailer was free, a few misc parts were about 10$ Try doing a search in your area...you never know what you'll find.
