Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Hard time logging in

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

When I respond to the url for a pm, I come up as unregistered. I go through the sign in and password process, it indicates I am logged in, then immediately tells me I am not registered.
If I then go to my favorites and enter from that url, I am fine, and logged in through my cookie.

I've had this problem in the past too. It only seems to happen to me occasionally. I've given up figuring out the cause. Perhaps you'll just have to use the cookie.

When you visit the site, do you visit bikeforums.net or www.bikeforums.net? The emails have the URL with www, correct?
Also, there's an option to login automatically in your user options. Make sure that is selected, or else you will have to login if you are inactive on the forums after like 10 minutes.
I can't think right now. I'm doped up on the painkillers, but there's something about cleaning out your cookies that can do something. Can you elaborate Joe?

DnvrFox,

Thanks,
Bike Forums team
From this I get a "you are not logged in" message.
I then log in manually, it sayd "Hi, DnvrFox (or the equivalent)" and then it tells me that I am not logged in!
Yes, I use the "automatic" log in saved on a cookie, and it works well if I just click on the Favorite with the BF URL. ???

Okay - I opened email this morning to find a message from Joe that I had a new private message and to go to the URL shown previously to retrieve it.
I go to the URL and it states I am not a registered member. So, I sign in, and it says "You are logged in, DnvrFox"
Immediately on the next click, I get the following message
"You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

This is BEFORE I have logged on to BFN from my favorites.
I really don't care, as it is easy to retreive PM's once I have logged into BFN, just seems sort of strange, and I used to be able to get PM's this way.
Anyway, feel free to disregard, as it really causes me no trouble, once you know your way around it!

Denver, you use AOL as your ISP, correct? Do you use the AOL browser, or IE directly?
Is this on your WinXP box or your 98 box?
