So where's the ride your age report?
It's the only way you can find the true age of members as they all look younger than they are- in some cases- too young to be on this forum.
Happy birthday yen

Happy Birthday! With the weather we're having, you might be able to get some more pictures of snow on your b-day ride.

Thank you so much!!!!
My plans to spend the day with my mom and cousin were postponed due to rain, but staying home on a rainy day is one of my all-time favorite things. Hubby made banana-walnut-cinnamon pancakes for breakfast. Soon after breakfast, the doorbell rang. Hubby answered and brought a beautiful vase of flowers to me, sent from my mom. Family members called throughout the day. I had lots of time to work on my recipe blog and create a new one (which I've nicknamed "the Seinfeld blog", a blog about nothing in particular). We ordered pizza for dinner and I had a piece of See's candy for dessert.
The only thing missing from this great day was the sound of my dad's voice. What helped me through those thoughts was knowing that he would want me to celebrate my special day and he would NOT want his absence to hinder it in any way. So, I made a point to enjoy my day, and relish the love and blessings poured upon me in many unexpected ways.
So, checking in tonight and finding this post tops off a really special day.
For those of you who don't know, "Yen" is my nickname that goes way back to my early childhood. When I joined BF, "Jen" was already taken so I chose Yen. Reading all these birthday wishes that include "Yen" is like reading them from old friends. And tntom, "Yennie" is what some of my old friends still call me to this day.
So thanks bunches everyone for keeping the smile on my face.

Let me join the choir and chirp in with a Happy Birthday. Glad to hear that you had a nice day.
But when you found that Jen was already taken, why didn't you go for something like HotRacerGirl?
stevesurf: thank you, and also for the FYI about the blog.
Tom: At the time, I was still ChubbySlowGal. :o Now, I could be SlenderNotAsSlowChick.
Happy birthday SlenderNotAsSlowChick.:bday:

Happy birthday! So happy to read it was a great day for you.
Thank you for the additional happy BD wishes. :)
My celebration continued today. My mom and cousin drove out to spend the day with me. My mom brought a delicious lemon "daffodil" cake that she made from scratch -- a total surprise that I was not expecting. We shopped, ate lunch, shopped some more, and headed home where we had cake and ice cream and visited for a while. After they left, I went for a short bike ride.
Yesterday (the day after my birthday) was very difficult. My birthday came and went without hearing my dad's voice, and that was most apparent yesterday. You had to know him to understand the huge hole his passing leaves in our lives -- in the life of everyone who knew him. My cousins said he was more of a dad to them than their own father. It seems that he was special to everyone who knew him, and I didn't realize how much until now.
Yen, I am a little late to the party, so I will wish you the best for the next year!
I've not yet lost a parent (except to dementia) so I can't know quite how you feel, but I do know what it is to grieve--and it does take a long time. Just know that your joyful memories will outlast the pain. Thank you for sharing with us.
