With summer coming up, I'm not sure how many rides you are going to want to do in 110 degrees. That a side, to get ready for a longer tour my girlfriend and I have done several weekender's in the phoenix metro area. We live in Chandler, so most of our trips are starting from there.

1. Chandler to Anthem - about 110 miles round trip, there are several hotels in Anthem to stay at.

2. Chandler to Lake Pleasant - Similar to the anthem trip, about 130 miles round trip, This one is better for testing out all the gear on a self sustained longer tour. Stay at the Desert Tortoise Campground, its the only one with showers.

3. Queen Creek to Catalina State Park - about 150 miles round trip, This is a challenging weekender, lots more hills. Again, you will end up bringing all your gear, campground only. You could go another 25 miles into Tucson, but we found that 75 miles was our days limit.

Those are just some of the rides we do, we also have day rides that are allot of fun that includes no over nights stays. Hope that helps...
