Greetings from Maine, USA. A state where showers are optional, but usually appreciated by friends and family. A state where wearing your best Dickies(the ones with no holes or grease stains) means you are probably headed to church or a funeral. A state where a man is not judged by how big his house is, but rather by how many vehicles he has jacked up in his dooryard. A state where the term "double wide" means a neighbor or friend has landed a real job. A state where "office supplies" means some more powder for the ammo loader or more chain oil for the chainsaw.
And even though I sometimes question my reasoning, I chose to open and run a bike shop in this wonderful state. Been at it quite awhile now. At some point, I imagine I'll actually make some money. It has been said before, "If you want to make a million bucks in the bike industry, start with two million."
But I like it in Maine. There's an honest approach to Life here. Most folks are skeptical by nature and ornery by choice. I like that also. Seems ot fit me well. Then there's the woods. We have got some woods. And generally, there is a tolerance for all kinds of users. Snowmobiles, ATV's, 4 wheel drives, horses, hikers, cyclists, and motorcycles all seem to have enough room to play and not irritate each other too much. Although lately, the ATVers have been getting a tad out of hand.
Anyway, I'm from Maine and I like it here.
