View Full Version : How difficult is it to put a Bob Yak together?

So here's the thing. I purchased a Bob Yak the other day from REI online, using one of their awesome 20% or 30% off coupons. Since I wasn't in any hurry to get it I figured I'd just have it shipped to the closest store (approximately 50 miles away) and save on shipping costs.

Well, the trailer is in and I'd like to go get it. The best option considering $4 fuel and my need for additional training for a tour this summer is for me to ride to the REI, assemble the Yak, and ride home.

What tools would I need to put a Bob Yak together? How does the trailer ride unloaded? I suppose that if I need the extra weight I could just buy some other random things at REI...as I don't seem to have a problem filling my car when I drive there. ;)

Anyone have any thoughts/concerns with this plan that I may have not considered? Thanks for your help. :D

All you need to do is install the trailer fork which requires two 8mm wrenches [could be 9mm or 10mm I can't recall] and then swap in the BOB QR. Your trailer will attach to your bike in 10 seconds and rides fine empty - you probably won't notice it back there at all.

Should be easy to do. I would assemble it inside of the store next to the bike counter and use all their tools, it is a co-op right?:thumb:
