Mountain Biking - Well, I guess full suspension just isn't for me.

Got the first ride in back on the dmr, and to be honest, with the fox on there, it felt a lot like how my Cowan rode with the pike on there, which is a really good thing, I loved how that setup rode and handled like. While I really liked my fisher, I feel much more at home on the DMR than I ever have the fisher and I really never did anything on the fisher that I couldn't do on any hardtail I ever had built(Well, except for that mistake of a Oryx and Cannondale I had, those two repeatedly tried to kill me:twitchy:). Only issue I have right now, my talas has become a float due to the travel adjustment is permanently stuck at 140mm regardless of the knob positioning, which is ok the bike doesn't seem to be too slackened out.

Will I build up another full suspension bike in the future, probably, just not in the near future. So I gave it a try, and found, I'm just not ready for a full suspension bike and am going to go back to my roots.

Good deal. 36 on a hardtail; seen a few setups like that that looked like they work pretty well. :thumb:

My flavor is a Lyrik, but same idea. Took me a while to find the fully frame that gave me the closest fit/feel to my hardtail, but now that I have, it was worth it.

Maybe something short travel, but slack/burly, like a slalom or "slopestyle" type dually would fit the bill?

Something like a Transition Double set up with a Pike up front seems like it would be a kick ass short travel trail bike, yet still have a really snappy feel. Granted the short TT and seat tubes' may not work for that for larger riders; I'm a short guy so they work for me.

I hear you, smashman...I find myself having more fun on the trail now than ever on my HT. I have more energy for one...but that connection issue that a lot of hardtail riders talk about is pretty valid. I feel like tweaking it out and get'n'funky on the trail is much more natural with mah Komodo than my XLT ever was.
