Does any of you use an adjustable stem on your current ride? Are they safe? do they flex too much? adjustment issues? what brands to stay away from?

Depends on the riding style you do. I have one on my Jamis Comfort bike, and it hasn't come loose in 6 years. I have also noticed that it doesn't seem to flex that much.
My LBS keeps them in stock for those that want to either want a very custom angle or are working on fit.

I'v had a Ritchey adjustable stem for several years, now. No noticeable flex. Couple of ounces weight penalty. Handy to be able to adjust stem angle as I've changed my position somewhat and also it moved from my old bike to new. But adjustment is not something you'd be doing in the middle of a brevet on a whim, as it takes several minutes, and if you have a bar bag then it's angle is wrong, post-adjustment.

Thanks for the replies. im still trying to find that perfect fit. probably will pick a cheap one first to test out.
