My Husband and I are looking to buy 2 folding bikes. We live in the inner city in Melbourne, Australia so the terrain is relatively flat. I will commute to and from work (approx 8km each way) and love the look of the Glide. He wants a more "traditional" style of bike and is thinking the matrix is the way to go. We live in an apartment with limited space hence the reason for the folding style.
A couple of questions - does any one know if the Glide is a good bike for commuting in this way or is it more suited to a quick trip to the shops?
The new Matrix needs an allen key to fold the bike, not the latch as the previous model had. Does anyone know why this has been changed?
thanks in advance :thumb:

The '08 Matrix has Dahon's LockJaw hinge system (same as the Cadenza since '07)- a neater design (in aesthetic terms at least) but it does require an Allen key. Some Cadenza owners have had bother with them (probably due to their LBS being unfamiliar with the hinges & not checking them over properly).

thanks for the response StuAff, we decided to bite the bullet and are now proud owners of 2 Folding Bikes. We have just been on our first ride along the Melbourne Bayside getting used to them and I look forward to heading off to work tomorrow on my Glide.

Hi Regan, now that you've had your Dohan glide for a while, how do you both like them?
Do you need an allen wrench to accomplish the fold?
