Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm trying to find inexpensive parts to build a single speed. I'm not finding much for a shoe string budget any ideas??

Are you converting a bike? Fixed gear or simply single speed?
If you're just converting an old bike to single speed and most of the parts are in good working order (or could be with a little TLC), you could get away with just removing the derailleurs, shortening the chain and simply running it on the existing casette and chainwheel. That will get you rolling SS for next to nothing.

+1 for running it on the existing cassette, its been done and can apparently work pretty well as long as u get the right chainline goin
