I've actually been here for a couple of weeks now, although mainly not venturing much past the commuting forum. Lately though I've been branching out to different sections of BikeForums so I figured I would properly introduce myself.
I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada. I joined this site because I picked up a bike off of Craigslist to commute/joy ride on. I traded a guy my old snowboard for a 2001 Trek 7500FX.
I have also joined a couple of local riding clubs/groups.
There are several reasons I decided to start riding. I used to ride BMX when I was younger.
I decided to start riding for my health. I'm a little on the heavy side these days. I'm 6'1" and 210lbs just barely making me a Clyde. Clyde Pride!
I also wanted to ride because of gas prices. If I can start commuting to work, we can get rid of one of our cars, saving us several hundred dollars a month in car payments, insurance, gas, maintenance and repair, etc.
Also I just wanted to do it to make a change in my life. Live a little healthier, a little greener perhaps. Change up my daily routine a bit. Kind of my way of being a rebel and sticking it to the man (in a sense) by getting out of my car and into the fresh air.
Trying to get my wife on a bike, but I think it's going to take some time. She's still recovering from a snowboarding injury to her knee. I also want to get a bike for my daughter when she's old enough to ride. But for now she can ride in one of the tow-able baby carriers.
Anyways, I love the forum. Lots of good stuff here. I love all of the stickies where everybody shows off their bikes.
See you on the road!
