It looks a lot like my route home. I must go out of my way to avoid a hill with what looks like at least a 40% grade. :D

Don't laugh. If you just add a couple of "cyclists give way to pedestrians" or "cyclists dismount to cross bridge", you would have something that looks remarkably like many of the bikepaths in this country.
I just ride on the road which solves all of those problems.

I dare any habitual car-driver to attempt what we do (with style) many days of the week. It takes great planning, thinking, skill and fitness, not to mention a big dose of "never-give-up" medicine (but I'd never trade it.)
Car-drivers don't ever think about:
Wind strength/direction
Chill factor
Rain (though they do care about rain-related slowdowns)
Flats (no, they don't)
Rough pavement/gravel/glass
Railroad tracks
Clothing
Sweat vs. chill
Mud splash
Hill climbs
Encountering cyclists ( :eek: )
Eating for the ride
Drinking (water)
Physical limitations (overtraining)
Cyclists don't ever think about:
Gas
Oil
Car payments
Insurance (well, most don't)
Tag/license
Expensive maintenance ($500 and up :eek: )
Dieting
Beating the light

So what are you telling me exactly then? My thought on this was "car drivers don't think" point blank.
