View Full Version : cannondale synapse sport 5
So I went to a few bike shops in Indianapolis today, and found myself drawn to a cannondale. It has a fairly relaxed geometry which is why I am surprised I liked it. It has fairly good components for a cheaper bike and very nice components compared to my trek 1000. My question is, is this frame to relaxed to compete in sprint triathlons and in the future longer triathlons? ( I am planning on flipping the stem and slapping some clip on aero bars if I get it) It is a light bike and accelerates well and its what I can afford as a growing 15 year old kid. Sorry for the newb annoying questions.

There are some very expensive and well outfitted time-trial bikes that have a very relaxed geometries. With that being said I think as long as you or your kid fit comfortably on the bike then go for it. You might run into some problems with being to stretched out if you put aero bars on it, but you can buy seat posts that put the rider more forward thus fixing that problem. Plus, if you're buying a bike for a 15 yr old kid, I think a road bike is a better purchase anyway because it's a more all around bike. I bought a road bike a year after I got my tt bike and am glad I did because now I can ride with groups (tt bikes aren't good for group rides) and head out for long training rides and stay comfortable. Hope that helps.
