Went on my first ride in 25 years IT FELT GOOD only road for about 2 miles but I didnt crash like I thought I would my new bike did great its A schwinn crisscross thanks TOM for giving me the lead on it. My back side is a little tender but not to bad maybe a new wider seat will fix that. But all in all it was fun.

Don't worry about being sore--if this is the first time you've ridden in 25 years, it's to be expected!
By the way, Welcome to BikeForums!

Congrats! I was glad to help out. :D
Now, to address the behind issue. Let's get you some starter padded cycling shorts. You can wear them underneath basketball or regular Gym shorts if you'd llike. :D

My first ride after 30 years was 3.5 miles Feb '08. It felt like 100 miles. Anyway, you will quickly ramp up the miles in no time!
I recently picked up a Criss Cross myself. Good choice.
It takes a few/several rides to make a decision on a seat. I ended up with a narrower seat. You never really know what is going to fit the best. I would give any seat a little time before trying something else.

Good Ride . I wore 2 pair of bike shorts for while. Now I can ride 100 miles on a racing seat with just one pair.

Welcome to the world of freedom. Get yourself a Brooks b17...your but will hurt for many miles then you will have the great break in relief.

Speaking as a beginner too, I thought I had enough padding of my own  but I found padded shorts made a huge difference.
Well done for not letting the naysayers put you off! :thumb: :D

I'd hold off on the new saddle for a while unless the one you have is truly awful. It'll be a few rides before your sit bones will adjust. I know I was sore the first few rides of this season. Congrats on riding again.
