Hi,
I am a 60 year old Clydesdale riding both road and MTB in order to lose some pounds. I am currently riding one of the two at least 1 hour per day. I have lost about 8 lbs in about six weeks of fairly often riding and have also moved to a low fat diet with lots of chicken.
The weight seems to be coming off pretty slow so far but I am encouraged by the post in this form and will continue to ride until I lose from 236, to my goal of 175. I purchased both my bikes at a LBS and they are a KHS Tuscon 2007 and a KHS Flite 700 2007. I purchased the Tucson but kept riding it on the road, so I purchased the road bike. I am in outside sales and I travel a lot and carry a bike while I am on the road so I don't miss any days.
I am pretty cheap, so I purchase riding shirts at TJ Max or Marshalls for usually under $10. I got my shorts ar REI on sale for about $35 each. Shoes at REI on sale My wife is pretty conceerned out me riding because someone in the neighborhood was riding and crashed breaking his neck. He is ok, but she wants me to increase my life insurance and get disability insurance.
I am pretty much a lone rider, but I am planning on riding a few days of BRAG, a state road ride for 7 days averaging 60 miles per day. I have increased my riding the last week from 6-10 miles per day to 10 to 15 miles per day. I would like to ride the whole week but I need to work.
