Mountain Biking - The #1 thing I hate about Headshoks...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is the 1.5" steerer tube. It's impossible to find any damn stems for it!! The selection sucks. All of them are like 400 mm long with -15 degree rise or something crappy like that. I want something stubby with a few degrees rise. I don't want it to be long!! Anyone know of any good sites that sell these stems? I'm stumped.. I found one on Ebay but I'm hoping for some more options.

If I remember right, Kore makes an aftermarket stem for Cannondales. I think Cambria Bike carries them. What rise are you looking for and what length. I may have a spare I took off of one of my bikes.
I'll look tommorrow what I have.

Is it a real 1.5" steerer or an almost one. A few companies make 1.,5's now. Fsa, Raceface (diablous) maybe even thompson. And they are in the freeride length of 70mm...would thos fit canondales 1.5?
I'm pretty sure it's a true 1.5 steerer.

Kore makes a nice short stem for the Headshock. I almost purchased one, but decided it was too short for my interests.
I've seen them for sale on E-Bay fairly often. It seems some guy in So Cal is/was trying to unload a number of them. Not sure if he still is. But its worth looking.
Yeah, I bid on one that was fairly short. My stem is almost 7 inches from front to back, and my XL is a tad on the large side for me, so I'm just looking to reduce the angle that I lean over and maybe gain a more agrgressive stance. I've already got riser bars but it wasn't really enough.

Sorry Jim my extra stem is 4.5 center to center so it is not much different from yours, otherwise I'd be glad to send it down to ya. I will check our local shop since they stock a lot of stuff. If they have one you want me to snag it?
If you can find a pretty stubby one, go ahead and snatch it up for me Sam!

I'll be going by there tomorrow. Got a tricycle for Samantha on layaway for christmas and I plan to pay some on it to keep em happy.

Profile Design has a few choices. Looks like they might have what your looking for. There was a recall on some of there older MTB stems. I have been running one for a couple a years on a Cannondale hardtail. Got no complaints.

The shortest one they have is 105 mm.

The thing I hate about headshoks is that it makes for a very tall front end on a small frame. I once had a F600 in a small frame and even with my seatpost extended about a foot, my handlebars were still higher than my saddle. And that's with the stem flipped downward. That geometry just did not work for me.
I loved that. I used to ride a medium frame when I was younger (I ride an XL now) and loved the aggressive geometry. The bars up high and the rear of the bike down low really gave me a lot of confidence. I dont really like my XL frame. If I could find another frame for cheap I'd probably switch to something a little smaller.

Sorry about the misinformation. In my haste I missed the fact that the 1.50s started at 105mm not 45mm like the 1.25s. Now that I think about it I believe the one I have is a 105. Damn those quality innovative products from Cannondale. ;-)

Sorry Jim, nothing less than a 100mm with about 30deg rise.
A 80mm with 5deg is available thru cdale. They said they were in stock and could order it.
I'm sure my LBS could order it. Thanks for the effort though, Sam. I'll continue looking around for them online.
Youll find one Im sure I have a couple of them in different sizes I use for different tyoes of riding on and off road. Its not hard to find a good supplier online if you google it.
