Fifty Plus (50+) - It's not the size of the dog in the fight...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

After the mileage-mania of the past 3 weekends, it seemed like a good time for a breather.
Mrs S said so
So, this was a nice little 21 mile jaunt this morning.

I figure if I'm only going to do 21 miles, I might well as make sure I squeeze as much pain out of it as I can.
Mission accomplished :D
That little 11-13% section right in the middle sure was a gut check.
It's only the 2nd or 3rd time I've done that stretch of road... I'll be coming back to it later.

What programme is that you are using to show the stats?
21 miles is a nice "keeping in trim distance" but most only do a flat ride for that distance.
So where are these gentle slopes you have been doing? Told you that hills get easier. (Didn't say easy) So if you are looking for a few hills to do on a ride- it shows how much the new bike is working- you should have got it sooner. Think a lot of the improvement is the effort you have put into your riding so well done- and keep finding steeper slopes to practice on

The program is Ascent, a nice Mac-only app.
At this point in my development, 21 flat miles just won't really do it for me so I need to find something to make them interesting.
This ride was in Pacifica, CA -a half hour south of San Francisco- home of Roberts and Sharp Park Roads, as well.
Roberts Road, in fact, is between markers 3 and 4.
Sure it says 12.3% but that's just up front. The second 1/4 mile is more like 6%.
Heh.. Just think, Roberts Road was the warm up for the Fassler Ave. climb which is over a mile long.
In the sake of fair reporting, I will say that I took a couple of breathers in that 11-13% section... the old HR alarm went off, so stop I must.
Yep, this old dog of an OCR C2 has been truly inspiring.
Wonder what I could do with a good bike ;)

About the best I can manage on a PC is with Motion based and is a print screen- into paint and save. Bit complicated and not as many details.

Slightly OT. SKT, my daughter lives in Mill Valley and will present us with a grandchild in August. Ms. Slim and I will be there often to babysit. You and I will put our Giants together (size does matter) and do some rides.

You promise you won't drop me? "Drop me"? "Smoke me" is probably closer.
August is a little "iffy"... Mrs S and I are going back to NY for 10 days to visit her folks but, seriously, I'd love to get out and do a ride if I'm here when you are. And I still have a couple of months to ride before then :D

Watch out for cross pollination. Don't want gawdy coloured hybrids occuring.
