Introductions - Greetings from South Mississippi
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I rediscovered cycling at 40 after 20+ years without a bike. I compete in tri and duathlons, bike commuted for a few years (not doing so now because I've been within walking distance of school/work for a while) and doing more and more work on my bikes. There are two people and 8 bikes in my household but only one car. I am most interested in the forums for repair, commuting and advocacy information.

My goodness, that is great that you have only one car and eight bikes :D .
What bikes have you got?
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
What bikes have you got?
Embarrassingly I miscounted. Actually there are 9 bikes for the two of us. We (obviously) like Schwinn frames; have picked up Fetish frames because they tend to be cheap and so far no real complaints with them. Never ridden any serious cyclocross (still a dream) so use those bikes for commuting/bad weather. I have gotten really into using the singlespeed (with cadence) for interval training this year.
1) 2001 Schwinn Supersport (8 speed Sora triple ) set up 'permanently' on fluid trainer. We don't have cold winter here but there are uncomfortable or wet days when it is nice to have a bike on a trainer.
2)2003 KHS CX100 Cyclocross frame (Steel with rear shock); I rebuilt from cyclocross to singlespeed with 48 x 16, has older Velomax Circuit Comp wheels that still have a great ride.
3)2007 Fetish Attack Track frame singlespeed/fixie (also 48 x 16), with flipflop hub; husband's bike and build.
4)2007 Ibex Cyclocross, 10 speed Ultegra compact (husband's bike).
5)2007 Fetish Freccia frame built as time trial/triathlon bike, 2007 Campy Centaur gruppo, Oval Concepts Jetstream Fork and clip on aero bars (another of husband's bikes/builds).
6)2001 Schwinn Supersport Factory (made in USA frame) 9 speed Ultegra, road bike.
7)2007 Fetish Position Cyclocross 9 speed Dura Ace (my bike and build).
8)Another 2001 Schwinn Factory built up as time trial/triathlon bike; with custom paint job, Ultegra 9, Profile Design T2 base and aero bar; Neuvation C 38 Clincher carbon wheels.
9) Just finished (and proud of) the rebuild of my 2002 KHS Flite 2000 road bike. It has custom paint (black with red/green flame pattern) by Jack Kane of Jack Kane Racing Cycles in North Carolina; 2008 Campy Centaur (with carbon crank) 10 speed gruppo; Deda Newton bar/stem; King (red) headset; Neuvation R 28 aero wheels; Vredstein Fortezza (red) tires.
I am finishing grad school (Masters in therapeutic recreation) so don't have serious money at this time which is why no top of the line parts. I look for quality at reasonable price (have 5 sets of Neuvation wheels, for example and have been pleased with both products and service). I have tended to recycle/rebuild rather than buy new (last had a 'real' job in 2003 which is why some of the frames date from that time). I don't know others in this area who do much work on bikes (it may be obvious from the length of this response that I don't get much opportunity to talk about bikes in detail) but I enjoy messing about despite making many mistakes and sometimes getting frustrated. I actually started learning about and working on bikes in response to what I perceived as crappy treatment by employees (males) at some (big) bike shops. However, my experiences with owner operated local shops in various locales have been overwhelmingly positive especially given that I don't buy much from them (lots of ebay purchasing) and only show up when I have had a problem doing something.
thanks for asking....

Whoa, you are a busy woman! That's marvelous that you are finishing grad school AND find time for the bike building.
You might want to send a PM to Donna (http://www.bikeforums.net/private.php?do=newpm&u=53312) about access to our Women's forum, too.
