I'm planning on doing a ride early tomorrow morning and was looking for good biking roads between 25/Jericho Tpke and Asharoken/Eatons neck? From what I understand, 25A has bike lanes from Cold Spring Harbor out for about 18 miles. Is anyone familiar with this route and would I be better off still taking a less busy road?

Beautiful day out there today.

Eatons neck road has a few nasty pot holes, and main st is a horrible road for the bicycle, otherwise the roads and scenery were perfect.

Link in the OP (google maps) which is what I would do again. Slightly different route coming back and got lost for a bit (won't take that again).

If you can get to the LIE, then use Round Swamp Rd north to 25/Jericho.

If you're coming from the west (25 or 25a), I'm not too familiar with those roads as of yet.

I'll probably do it again, next time I'm going to bring a memory card for my camera. I'm coming from southern LI, south west of that 25/Jericho.

I can give you my motionbased when I upload it, but I think your coming from Manhattan? Let me know.

BTW: Best wishes on a speedy recovery on your knee.

Awesome - though I can't believe I didn't notice the link in the OP :o! I could be coming from NYC or LI since I go out there to visit folks a lot.

Thanks about the knee, tested it out today for 20 miles. Got pedal extenders which helped but my knees still really kick out (I was told) and gave me a warning, I'll throw the cages on next and see.
