Fifty Plus (50+) - Some BFN History and thoughts

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I joined BFN 08/30/2001. Prior to that I was a participant in Bikeforum.com (joining about 1999), from which many participants joined with BFN.net in August of 2001, or thereabouts, when the moderator got severe carpal tunnel and could no longer use the keyboard. I believe that BikeForums.com eventually sold the name to Joe Gardner, so that you would get the current BFN with BikeForums.com.

So, out of curiosity, I went back through the membership records to find folks who met the following criteria.

1. Were members prior to 08/30/2001
2. Have more than 2,500 posts
3. Who are currently posting to BFN (within the past month or so).

Here is the list, which is smaller than I expected it to be. (I may have missed someone - it is possible)

Screen name, date of joining, number of posts

LittleBigMan -- 03-03-01 -- 8,920

SD Fixed -- 05-30-01 -- 4,664

Allister -- 08-12-01 -- 3,600

DnvrFox -- 08-30-01 -- 10,325

Heck, I used to be a very active participant in the Roadie Forum. But, I have not been posting there much for some time. I think I will post more there (in fact, I have posted several times today). I think they need my experience!!!:):D

I was active at Bicycleforums.com when it was shut down. That was a nice little group, I hated to see it end. Wasn't the owner called BikerBob or something like that? I didn't come over here until December of 2001, don't remember what took me so long.

Yes, I beleive that was his name.

I believe that he also joined BFN under the name "cycletourist" - I think his last post here was in 2005. He was a big tourer.

Hmm!!

August 2001 - August 2008 - more like seven - years.

And over 10,000 pearls of wisdom for others to learn from!

Should I put all of my posts in a book? and sell them - potential best seller.

Finally a way to make my millions!

OK, I have one sale, but that is not very profitable, considering all the work.

Anyone else want a book?

And the TITLE should be?
