View Full Version : Sierra Century June 7th... Anyone?

The mighty Sierra Century is next Saturday in beautiful Murphy's CA. Bring your camelbaks for 12,000 feet of vertical heaven over 100 hellish miles of terrain in the land of Ma and Pa Kettle.
I'll be there with or without bells on... Haven't decided. Riding it with my distance running best friend who ain't much of a cyclist so this should be at the least... INTERESTIN'!!!

Another case of so many good rides, and not enough time to do them. We'll be camping up in Markleeville that weekend, getting a chance to pre-ride all the passes from the Death Ride. It looks like they got some snow this weekend :eek:

I'm doing it again this year. Its a good ride and pretty challenging. I'll be doing the death ride so it'll be good to get in 12,000 feet of climbing.

I wanted to do it this year again but decided to save some gas and opted for the Sequoia Century.

Oh! I forgot. The offer is open. I have a minivan and can accommodate about 5 people/bikes snugly, 4 comfortably. Besides me and Alex, another friend might come, so that makes at least 1-2 openings for carpooling from the Sacramento area. The only minus is you'll probably beat us to finish and have to drink a couple of glasses of Ironstone while you wait... Bummer I know. :cheers:

Still haven't made my mind up if I'm doing this or not. The roads are soooo horrible. That's prolly the reason they have only a third of the turnout they had last year. On the other hand, it's hill climbing and it's practically in my backyard...

I'll be at Grover Hot Springs Saturday thru Sunday..... typically do Monitor one day, Ebbetts the other... site 41.... say hey if you see us.... :)

OK - I'm going to be there! Doing the 50, though. And I have a feeling this will be one of the last centuries I do outside of Los Angeles without taking along a friend - it's economically difficult and a waste of resources to justify driving hundreds of miles for a half or one day ride (I'll make an exception for my favorite supported ride, the Chico Wildflower Century) by myself. But then, when I signed up, gas wasn't $4.50 a gallon that it is now in L.A.

Next long ride out of town, I either have to carpool with a few friends or ride to the start.

See you tomorrow....
