Hey gang:
I thought I would try to drum up interest in a Folder Fest for folding bike lovers and curious-ers. I am proposing Folder-Fest for mid July, eg. Sat. July 12th.
Details are posted here in the Folder sub-forum - http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=422443.
It should be a lot of fun. There will be contests and prizes. I'm going to call the news orgs to get them to cover it also. Non-folding bikers are definitely invited also!
Anyone???

Bump. Just one month away!!!
I've created a flyer for the event. If you are so inclined, please help me distribute it around. The more people, the merrier! Non-folder riders are welcome too!!!

Hi Alan!
Thank you so much for your email! I really appreciate you reading the blog!
I will be out of town on July 12, but I will pass your story along to a couple of our reporters! I think this will make a great fun and informative story!
Please feel free to keep in touch!
Talk Soon!

OK, now that the Tandem Rally is over, time to organize the next event...
'Cmon out and join us at the FolderFest this Saturday. If you own a folder, or you're wondering about folders, this would be the event. There are going to be all kinds of folding bikes there. We're going to have a picnic on Crissy Field, and some folder contests, too! Then we'll probably ride across the GG Bridge.
BART TV is going to film us for a production. We're going to put Pete in a suit and loan him one of my folders and turn him into a commuter for the day. He'll be the star of the video!
Everyone is welcome to come say hi!

Two more days...
I think the FolderFest has tapped into a latent demand. There apparently was a group about 10 years ago that met regularly, and I spoke to the organizer, Tom Vogt. He's forwarded the invite to his old mailing list. SF Chronicle listed the event, as has SF Bicycle Coalition and others.
I think there's going to be a crowd on Saturday.:twitchy:
BART TV is going to film us for a video piece. If you want to be in the video, meet us at BART Embarcadero Station at 10am.
Y'all come out, now...:thumb:

I'll be there at Millbrae Bart.
There's a 9:15 train that gets in at 9:49.
See you there!
I'll be BARTing it in, too, though I'll be getting on far from where the cool kids board. :P
The Bobs will be BARTing in from the East Bay (altho we'll be on tres-uncool non-foldable bikes :( ) - we hope to leave from Union City at 9:13 for a 10 am arrival,
But since we're part of the non-folder contingent, no-one's gonna want to film us anyhow - that's my excuse for if we're late. At any rate, we'll be at the Ferry Building by 11. :D
