Mountain Biking - Storing bikes upside down?

Ive seen garage storage hooks that hang bikes upside down by the wheels. I'm just curious if that is a bad idea with a front suspension mountain bike. It seems like hanging it upside down would be bad for the shocks but I don't really know for sure.
it should be fine, just when you get it down again allow for the oil and stuff to drain back down and maybe give it a few warm up bounces.

Ignore XC Froot Loops, he has no idea what he's talking about.
What's the fork damped with? If it's hydraulic, hanging it could make a difference. Anything else would be fine.

Yeah its a hydraulic fork. I was concerned with the fluid leaking out of it if it was upside down.

I have limited experience with hydraulic forks but I don't think that should be a problem.

Aren't all the upright bikes in China actually upside down?

I hang mine by the rear wheel. No problems yet. I wouldn't go pumping up my shock while it's upside down though, but that's just me being overly paranoid.

might effect some hydraulic brakes, too.
I recently left my bike at a buddies house and he hung it upside down in his garage. Next day, there was a puddle of oil that leaked out from my fork ('03 RS Duke).
The fork has not been holding air well recently so this may be a result of a loose air valve (maybe? thoughts?) or some other problem and not necessarily simply a result of hanging the bike upside down.
(He called with 'some bad news'. I thought somebody had died! But he was just telling me about the fork. Hopefully it is a quick fix since short-track starts in 4 days!)
i suggest you put it in a van by the river instead.
