Fifty Plus (50+) - Rode my age

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I rode my age Saturday, the 24th. 53 miles. Out and back. Ventura to Santa Barbara. First half averaged 20mph in the rain. Yuk. Met a buddy at the turn-around and we rode back to my house for the B-day BBQ. The last 10 miles turned into brilliant dry sunshine along the Coast Highway. Sweet.
Note to self: eat something before you swig margaritas after a long ride.

20 in the rain and you still enjoyed it. Sounds a good ride- but give up on the margaritas. Stick to red wine of a suitable quality. Then you can savour the quality and you won't need food- just another bottle.
lol!
Wise insight.
Santa Barbara people are required to drink margaritas!

Way to go. I think several of us rode in the rain over the long weekend. Crazy.

Metric. 15KM :p I'm young. I just came in here to congratulate you! My 15KM ride is to and from school, and a ride through some nearby trails at lunch.
Good job though! Biking is a great way to stay fit while older. I once rode with some 50+ people [on a group ride] and they were pretty good!

Bravo! Are we supposed to drink margaritas at the end of a ride? This bike thing is getting to be more fun all the time.

Yes, it would be dangerous to drink them before or during. :)

I didn't realize it until just now, but I rode my age (61) Saturday in the rain, too.

It is just me, or do you feel like you're going faster in the rain?

What is your metric age, John E? :D Is that an age you get in Europe?

I find the rain cools you down, so it feels easier, and therefore faster.
