hand-crank flashlights?

I was just wondering... Has the hand-crank flashlight (mountable for
bikes) come out yet?

If so, where can I buy one?

I googled it and found many types from $9.99 to $99.99. Glue some Velcro to one and fasten the matching piece of Velcro to the bike, fender, stem, handlebars what-ever. Using one would mean stopping frequently to crank it again.

Recently I had to get a cheap old "pub" bike back in action for lads night out at the football euro-final*.
My old reachargeable lamp failed to recharge and I needed a light ASAP. A wind up LED flashlight can be made to fit using a length of inner tube tied in a loop over each end and under the bars . The existing lamp mount on the bars helped to stabilise it. I could get about 10 mins of riding before having to rewind but it was enough to get me home.

* NB leaving nice bikes locked in public on the evening of big football matches is a bad idea.

I saw one at Target once, it's the same light somebody gave me with an attachment for the handlebars. It doesn't put out much light, you'd be way better off with even a cheapo bocycle light.

I have one and it works reasonably well as a "be seen" light, not so good as a "see" light. I use it as my main safety light on my commute on city streets but when I tried it on MUP in the dark I had to slow to a crawl to even stay centred on the path.

So, why are these lights better than LED lights with rechargeable batteries?

Target has a Schwinn one for $20. 1 min of winding is supposed to give you 0.5 hrs of light.

I wonder if those things ever wear out, kinda like flint on steel?
