My wife and I are having a debate as to weather or not Danny Kaye is gay, does anyone here know?

Are you referring to Danny Kaye, the actor who played Hans Christian Anderson and the Court Jester? I don't have any personal knowledge of his sexual preference, nor do I much care. I can offer this bit of evidence, however. He was married to Sylvia Fine for 47 years until his death in 1987.
Thanks for the spelling correction

OK. I said I didn't care, but darnitall, the question got under my skin. So, I decided to Ask Jeeves (http://www.ask.com) "Was Danny Kaye Gay?"
The results included at least one denial. The following comes from a review of Kaye's movie White Christmas at the Stomp Tokyo (http://www.stomptokyo.com/movies/white-christmas.html) website.
Our screening of White Christmas at the 1997 Fall Film Series resulted in some bizarre conversations. Some folks wondered audibly whether Danny Kaye was gay (he wasn't, at least not according to his wife and daughter). Apparently a man can't mince around in tights, wear lipstick while pretending to be a woman, or scream like a sissy without certain people today wondering whether he was actually the pulsing dynamo of masculinity we know Danny Kaye was. Stop laughing.
This doesn't constitute proof any more than my citing Kaye's 47 year marriage to Sylvia Fine, but I suppose it provides evidence.
Then again, buddybuddy.com (http://www.buddybuddy.com/famous.html) claims that Danny Kaye carried on a 10 year long relationship with Laurence Olivier, which ended at the insistence of Olivier's third wife, Joan Plowright.
The gaycitynews website (http://www.gaycitynews.com/gcn32/unorthodoxbehavior.html) in a review of Mark Nadler's production of "Tchaicowsi and other Russians" mentions that this rumor, which seems fairly widespread, about Kaye and Sir Laurence was only begun after both men were dead. And amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671864947/qid=1071440543/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-7523771-3978320?v=glance&s=books) has an editorial review of a biography of Kaye Nobody's Fool:The Lives of Danny Kaye by Martin Gottfried which says:
Convincingly discredited as well are recent assertions that Kay and Olivier were once lovers.
Now, I guess I've spent entirely too much time pondering the sexual proclivities of a dead celebrity. If you'll excuse me, I think I'll get back to my life.
:D
Thanks for the responce, I guess we'll never really know.
BTW I think he was straight, my wife thinks he was gay, she also thinks Tom Selick is gay, and every one else that lives in Hawaii.

okay, for what it's worth, I know a guy (a FLAMING queen) who swears Tom Selleck showed up at his boss's estate with a BF, and for whom my friend claims he arranged a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride. I don't really believe him, and he's MY friend, so major grain of salt time.
as far as Danny Kaye, I have no info, but I do have a question. is it just me, or did michael richards base a lot of Seinfeld's Kramer him?

I'm not sure whether or not Danny Kaye was gay, but I do know positively that he is dead.

But his schtick certainly isn't. Part of Thanksgiving dinner this year was spent listening to my father-in-law's rendition of: ''the pellet with the poison’s in the vessel with the pestle, the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true.''

Who cares , the man was a genius / an artist of the first rank , I don´t care if he had a preference for sheep , I still enjoy White Christmas .

Reply :
I don't know WHETHER (no a) he WAS gay , I never thought so ;what counts is he was great and we can see it in the way Michael Richards reproduced some of his funny gestures and mannerisms in Seinfeld's Kramer , and it's refreshing that a modern comedian gets inspired by an old master .

He was Flaming on Fire Gay. And he passed away long time ago.
I think he came "OUT" in the 80s.
