Considering that today was pretty messed up from the beginning, given that I needed to visit the ER (not for me; everything was fine, thank the Lord), I didn't sleep until well past 11AM and stood up almost 24 hours. Expecting another day of never-ending hunger, it came and it was weird!
So when I get back to my place at around 6:30A, I eat a Clif Bar because I had a breakfast with my Dad planned. Three hours later, we eat a whopper of a breakfast (Mangu, or a Dominican dish with mashed plantains, salami, fried eggs, onions and avocado, with a side of OJ) and I fall asleep about an hour and a half later.
Five hours after sleeping, I feel the pangs of ultra hunger, so we ate dinner as a family (another whopper; two servings of rice, beans and chicken. Note that I usually do not eat like this.).
Four hours after that, my friend and I head out to East for some sushi, but not a lot. And that leads me to now, 5 hours before I leave for my first day of work, eating a half bowl of unheated corn.
Sorry for the details; just thought I post the thought of the day on here.
Here in Austin, a large Conan's Savage, deep dish, whole wheat should kill pretty much any hunger.
It used to be that if someone could eat one of those in one sitting, their money would be refunded... however that deal isn't in effect anymore.

a small serving of dark chocolate after meals is throught to satisfy the taste buds.
And by dark chocolate, I mean real stuff... the kind that actually shows the % of cocoa powder on the label.
I used to work for these people (http://www.legacychocolates.com), they know their stuff.
I had a hard time finding a good article on it- but if you don't believe me, google it :)

The trick is to keep your blood-sugar and leptin levels high to prevent your brain from feeling hungry. Easy way to is to have many small meals/snacks throughout the day. Then you never let things go so low that you end up binging on junk-food. A handful of dried-fruit and nuts helps. Quick-fix is a glass of water with two tablespoons of sugar and one of olive-oil. Only about 30-calories total, but will fight off hunger for over an hour.
When eating meals, make them small portions with LOTS of flavor. You'll feel more satisfied without needing a lot of volume.
My father likes to eat tripe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripe). That will spoil your apatite for days.

I never resort to junk food. I just get hungry after eating two hours of anything sometimes.
I have found that it really depends on a) my breakfast or b) my sleeping pattern the night before.
One thing that has remained constant is that I would feel incredibly hungry in the nighttime.
15 drops of grapefruit seed oil in water. Works really well.
Glad to hear everything's OK at the ER!

Dunno about chocolate and grapefruit seed froo froo (sorry air ;) -have never tried grapefruit seed but have heard good things.). Pretty much any food fairly high in fiber will make you feel full. If you want to stay healthy carrots and blue berries are high in fiber and will take the edge off hunger pretty well. Of course they might taste strange together....meh.

The problem I have with this is that when I eat small, I want tasty, so I end up eating junk. If I'm eating a big meal, I find it much easier to eat healthier because I have something like chicken breast with rice and broccoli or a salad or something.
I'm just not good at snacking on carrots or broccoli or whatever.

The more I eat in one sitting the quicker I am hungry again. So... +1 on the many small meal concept. That and drink gallons of water.
Lol, I ate a cliff bar too, for breakfast, and some root beer. I feel like poop.

I must eat bacon.
Bacon is the hunger-killer.
Bacon is the little-meal that brings total satisfaction.
I will face my bacon.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the bacon has gone there will be nothing.
Only poo will remain.

Whats the big deal? 3 slices of bacon is 120 calories.
