Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - New Bike, New sport

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi,
I'm new to the forums, and generally, to the biking thing..
after a few posts, decided to take the plunge and buy a normal bike, not some x-mart rubbish.
Today i have ordered a custom Specialized HRXC ( custom paint " Grey Green ")
paid waay too much for it ( local pricing), so this will keep me commited for a while.
I must say the people here are amazing.
When i'll get my bike( tomorrow) i will put a bikeforums decal on it..take that LBD!
Anyway, this is an introduction of sorts..
will post pics when my RXC gets home..

Just look for markers near you. :D As the map gets populated, it will eventually become a great resource, I think. :D
Is it worth adding the map to the FAQ/sticky thread or your sig? I'd not seen it before.
Feel free to add me - I'm in Canterbury in the UK.

No doubt - the map is very cool. Over 59k views so far.
I wonder how many of them are other fat folk looking to drop some poundage? (My brethren)
Add me as well. I'm in Houston, TX, Just north of the 610 loop, just east of Ella. If you need more info, pm me.

Hey, Tom...
I posted my location a long time ago as Los Angeles. Can you change it to Santa Clarita, zip: 91351? A little more accurate.
Thanks.

Hey - I think the map is awesome.THANK YOU FOR BUILDING THIS!!!!..but I am not so good with maps :)
How do I figure out who is in Atlanta...Do I just click on lots of placeholders.... Is there an easier way to see them?:twitchy:

Just click on the placeholders. I think you're the first Atlanta member, though. There are a few BF members outside the Clyde/Athena group around, like ModoVincere, who's a pretty good guy. He and I met up when I was down for Tour de Pike in March, down in Pike County, south of you.

LBD is an inside joke that's been floating around BF after a thread got started where "Load Bearing Decals" got bandied about. A member was getting teased that his bike was going to explode after he took the decals off of his suspension fork and this was because the decals were "load bearing". It was a great gag. :p
Me too - Newbie that is... what is a LBD???
Ohh and congrats!

That is a sweeeeet looking bike. If the 21" frame is too big I'd be happy to send you my shipping address. :)
And, Tom, you can place me at Oxnard, CA 93035. Thanks.

21 is huge to me because i have moved from a 15' FS x-mart bike..
Just waiting for my payday at the lbs to pick up a pump and some other goodies ( so that i'll be able to change the tires to my WTB slickasaurus)..

I guess while you're at it Tom, you can add me at zip 52241.
Seems like there should be a better way to do this... with out having to click on multiple pages. Ah well.

Well, you can download it to Google Earth and update the DL from time to time.
Gotcha.
