Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have been using a bike equipped w/ a 35cc Gebe motorized assist kit for almost a year now.For the most part it has been a great experience.
I originally mounted the kit on a diamondback sorrento, which is a hardtail, and was breaking mounting hardware on a regular basis.
I recently mounted the kit on my GT LTS 3000 DS (5-25-08),which is a 10 year old full suspension X-C bike.
With the kit now mounted on a floating rear suspension, hopefully the days of breaking parts is over!
In the spirit of fairness, I should state that I am using this setup as my sole mode of transportation and traffic permitting, I am running wide open all the time (about 27-30 mph).
The only times I have not been able to use this setup(other than when broken) is when we had around 10 inches of snow dumped on us overnight and the roads or sidewalk had not been touched w/removal equipment. That being said, 6 inches of fresh snow was no problem until the cars running through it packed it down so I had to fight the front wheel to keep it going straight(due to the snow breaking up).
I welcome any questions anyone might have.

It's not a motorcycle.
If the engine on a motorcycle (or scooter or moped) fails, you can't pedal them home....

My moped had pedals...not that I would want to pedal it very far, but it could be done...in fact I used to use them when I was sneaking home late on a Friday night:innocent:
