Done a lot of searching and been through the Framebuilder's forum and FBQ - no luck yet. I want to change the dropouts on an older steel MTB ('94 GT Ricochet) to a rear-facing singlespeed style (Pauls). Also looking to remove some braze-ons and repaint/powdercoat. I've got the frame, the fork and the dropouts, but I'm still looking for a builder/painter who'll take it on (reasonably). I could send it to Cyclart or Joe Bell or Spectrum and, after about 8 weeks, $90+ in shipping, $230+ in labor and $325+ in powdercoat have a pretty nice looking frameset. I'd prefer to find someone local to LA (40 miles) who'll do it faster (end of June) and for less (TBD). Anyone here able to make a good recommendation?

Try Jim Kish in San Luis Obispo:

There are a few others in San Diego, names escape me for now.

Thanks Crit. Got your PM and contacted The Path (Tustin). Waiting for their response which I'll report back on here. And Dunwood, I'll be driving through SLO-town in about two weeks. If Kish works out I can drop it off there and cut my shipping in half anyway. Thanks for all the responses. Mark.
