Forgot to post this earlier. Brought the possum in for warranty this past Thursday, the trek fisher rep was in today and found a 2nd crack forming on the headtube, deemed the the damage wasn't manufacturer defect so was offered a discount on wait for it....

a Hifi as a crash replacement, the bike I despise so very frikken much, having seen 5 with catastrophic failures come into where I work, so I declined the offer and have told the lbs to take the shock off and to trash the frame.

I don't think I would settle for the say of a sales rep. Isn't there a way to compell them to send it back to Trek/Fisher R&D for a more informed evaluation and diagnosis?

Ah, Scarry Fissure.

Looks like I may be getting a Crackandfail myself.

Sucktastic.

Ah well; sounds as if you're happier going back to the non-squishy rear end kind of bike love anyhow. :thumb:

Simple, I don't work at a fisher dealer anymore.

Whatever. Sheesh. Can't even get his fork travel adjust to work right, and doesn't do any gnarcore drops to flat????

Obviously a fricken' noob hack mechanic.

I'm not going to seriously take things head on for awhile, while I do have my new truing stand, dish tool on hand, I've still have alot to go before I'm ready to open. As far as opening, I see myself opening shop in mid august if everything goes by plan. So until then, I'm doing some web work during the morning hours for mad money. The rest of the time I'm here or out riding.

Very cool! Best of luck with it all. Sounds like you've got enough stuff on the side to keep you rolling until things are ready to take off.

OK, so I'll bite. I own a Hi-Fi and I am curious as to where/how these failures occurred. I had not heard anything about any problems, although I haven't looked very hard at finding the information. Just good to know is all.

Thanks, I got my fingers crossed I won't have similar results.
