Not much noise made from the Memorial Day weekend from anyone, so what about this comming weekend?
Plenty of competitions in the IL/WI area:
- WI State Time Trial Champs near the Bong Rec. Area in Kenosha County
- Twilight Criterium in Winfield, IL followed by a crit. there Sunday as well.
- Criterium in Sussex, WI on Sunday.
I'll be shooting pix at the TT and if it ends early enough, will catch the P12 in Winfield on Saturday. Sunday will find me in Sussex looking for BF riders crossing the line first!

Get Learned. (http://tomtheisen.com/blog/2008/05/my-weekend-as-triathlete.html)
Saddles should be hard. Like life. Cuts down on chafing.
:roflmao2:
+1 for sussex
I have never done a TT, and I don't think I wanna just jump into the state TT.

On the other hand, the level of competition doesn't really matter. You're racing solo regardless. I suck at TTs, and that state TT was my second TT last year. I got passed mercilessly. But it didn't matter. It's a TT. But I'm not doing it this year. Crits are better. Crashing is fun.

You are twisted... I like it.
Sussex Sunday, but I work on Saturday night so I'm just gonna do the Harper Ride in the morning.
Am looking forward to the racing action.

Windfield...Both Sat and Sun. This is my last weekend as a cat5. I will have hit the max mass starts. I like the 40+ cat5 on Sun.
I will also be at Sussex. 9:00 start.
Here's video from the State TT (5/31)... Fun, fast, course.

Nicely done. I shot some video too, but I was 3 miles up the road hanging out with the turtles and ticks, had no idea when the race actually started or stopped! Will get my video up in a few days ... too many stills to go through, but will post a few within 30 minutes ... heck ... I JUST rolled in the door!
From the Wisconsin TT Champs I drove down to Winfield for the criterium ... VERY NICE.
Will throw up a few pics from each within 30 minutes.

Recursive: You doing the 3s?
JDub, when you going to be there?
I'm going to try to make it out at some point during the day.
I may go back to Winfield !
Oh, boy ... wait 'till you guys see these shots!!
Just a few more minutes while I upload.......
John:
I figured out where you were on the first lap when I saw your tripod on the side of the road (right next to a road sign, IIRC). Next time I came around I think you were deep in the grass.
That stretch of road was sweet -- mainly due to the tailwind.
Sounds like a busy weekend all around!

Yeah. 3s for me.
Yup ... that was me! I hope I got some good disc wheel sounds. My apologies to some of the folks that I may have missed ... it's not easy shooting someone's picture when you go by me at 40 mph! :p
Just a preview ... MANY MANY more to be posted soon (like by Monday).

From there, I drove down to Winfield, IL, a western suburb of chicago and actually found it rather easily.

A few from the Pro 1/2 race:
Athlete's by Design were well represented with their elite Gear Grinder squad.

The National Anthem (nice touch).

and from there I just camped out on the hill. This guy seemed to like the camera -

and the pace looked hot right from the gun.

At the top of the hill, during the P12 race, they had some KOM (or King of the Hill) primes -

The guys on the hill were talking with the Start/Finish announcers by radio and arranged the BIG prime with 5 laps to go -

(Continued ... I can only put 10 pics on each post)
From there it was a 5 lap sprint to the end ...

Gear Grinders seem to have it all together for ANOTHER win the last time past the line ...

BUT ...
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc54/biffbradford/MISC/BF%20TT%20WF%20PREVIEW/7414.jpg
TURIN takes the "W" in the final bend! Just nipping _______ from Gear Grinders (forgive me for not knowing names ... heck, he's got the ABR National Championship Jersey on ... SORRY! I'll learn ... I'll learn!)
Great courses, great racing today ... and I've got the sunburn to prove it, but it was a FUN day.
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc54/biffbradford/MISC/BF%20TT%20WF%20PREVIEW/7498.jpg
It was 77 degrees in Chicago this afternoon ... and when I got back home in Milwaukee ... it's 59!
I'll be scraping frost off the car in the morning !
So I may go back to Chicago for the National ABR champs tomorrow instead of Sussex. I'll grab a few hours sleep and see how things look in the AM.
:)
Lookin good! I will be at the 5's tomorrow 39 yrs and under at 9:45AM.
I hope it's not filled up yet as I'm planning on registering tomorrow morning.
Sussex Report:
8th place and KOM winner. Upgrade points, and a pair of headphones, a t shirt, a water bottle, some jelly belly sport beans, and a bottle of organic soybean oil chain lube were py prizes. Not bad, but I was hoping for a better finish, but my legs were dead after going for the 2 KOM sprints.
Well done Frunkin!
Hey, if you need help carrying home all the swag that you won at a race ... then you're doing just fine in my book. :thumb:
8th place and KOM winner.
Well done Frunkin!
I never made it out. I was going to go check out recursive in the 3s, got busy, looked at the watch and realized that it was nearly 3:00 . . .DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like SuperWeek will be the first races I watch this year . . . :(
Sussex Report:
The course was a long winding crit with wide roads, smooth pavement, and easy turns. There was a long shallow 500m climb to the finish.
KOM was determined according to points awarded three deep on three announced laps. I went for the first one and got points in second. I went for the second one and got fourth. I didn't go for the last one. The first two lead to break attempts that were quickly chased down.
Elsewhere in the race, I did some blocking for my teammate who stayed away for four laps solo. The final KOM sprint was the catalyst that killed that move.
Eventually, the bell rang. Two guys were off the front. They stayed. I waited for half way up the hill to jump. It was a good place to go for, but unfortunately, I sprinted for the wrong line. The KOM line was not the finish line. Still, I got 8th.
All in all, a good day.
For all of you that were elsewhere, doing whatever you do ... I have 145 pictures of the Pro race at the ABR National Championships in Winfield, IL posted:

Enjoy!
Will get the Cat. 3, teen, and kid photos posted tonight.
:)
Wonderful, wonderful pictures Jdub...hell, you could make me look like I know what I'm doing on a bike!
Outstanding work as usual Jdub!
The last word from me on this weekend - I made a video of the ABR Champs. I tried using some music that was "Creative Commons" but this one fit so well ... I hope they don't sue me!
