You might have to elaborate, a quick test and it did work fine.

The tech team has identified the problem and the fix should be implemented later today. I will get more information later in the day and keep you updated.

Thanks!

Maelstrom

Which part. I just tested a search for the word "search" in advanced search within this subforum and it worked just dandy. Unlike yesterday which pulled up every subforum.

Indexing is still slow? I just posted in a thread in foo about drugs and guns in canada. The search did not find this post.

Okay,
I've reported this to tech. Was the problem that search returned no results or didn't return the most recent results?

Thanks.

Most recent. It did return results but not from today. (I didn't thoroughly investigate dates to find out the cutoff, but it didn't find my post from a couple of hours ago)

Also, when I tried earlier, I got 878 pages of posts for myself, but when I went to see the last page, it returned the same results as page one.

So, page 878 = page 1

tried searching for threads about Andy Hampsten and no threads were returned.
that's peculiar b/c there has to be a bunch of threads mentioning that rider, right?

I just tried it and several pages came up. I also tried limiting it to one single sub-forum and it still worked.

I tested the indexing yesterday and it worked just dandy with a post I just posted in foo. Can you be more specific about what you are searching for?

I will try to find out how often the site indexes of if it is done per post. I will let you guys know :)

Gotta be pretty quick and working, 15minutes later and the word indexing is already in place

i use search to see if people have replied to my posts, sorting results by date, and showing results as posts.

this hasn't updated for days.

still not working.

to IB, this appears to be the last post indexed which happened several days ago. Seaching by Botto, with 1 week, sort by date and show by post in this forum only.

Botto,

I have re-emailed IB and essentially sent them this post as reference. There is definitely something still wonky with indexing or at the very least the search engine.

not indexing...
Search not only doesn't index, it doesn't list posts in chrono order.

It populates most recent posts from last page to previous one (reverse order), then remaining lists from recent (Page 1) and on (correct order).

For example:

Username=stevesurf

Search Options/
Search Duration=Forever
Sort Results By=Post Date

Every page shows posts in chrono order except next to last page and last page that include the most recent posts. Next to last page has posts from 2005 and 2008 on it.

search>keywords>date only indexes to tuesday.

I've tried a couple searches over the last week's worth of post (according to the search tool), and I seem to be getting results that are okay. Can you give me an example of a keyword and conditions that returns bad (or incomplete) results?

It's clear at this point that IB doesn't care if the forum actually functions properly as long as there are advertisers and folks willing to pony up $25 a year for secret clubhouse access.

Clearly they don't ever plan on fixing things. If only more people would have signed up fpr the Ti Forum maybe they'd have the funds.....

I hardly use it. It does what I want it to for the most part the rare times that I do.

It sounds like you all could die if it's not fixed. Please, sarcasm won't fix it and IB didn't actually invent this platform...they inherited it. Ti doesn't pay the bills, advertisements do. The fee for Ti membership does some of this too but it pays to operate your "secret club" also.

Issues are being had but griping about search and trying to tie it to "some elitest club" is not helpful. I live on nearly 700 dollars a month (with next month's COLA increase, false hope because all my other stuff will adjust in accordance and little will be gained) and if you have a job you too can easily afford to be ELITE yourself. If you were snubbed for some reasons they aren't my business but you have no right to complain like this in these forums in that case.

Look at my avatar or my ABC thread and tell me I'm not working hard to cope with it.

Please be more constructive and thank you for writing.

Actually, IB owns vBulletin, the software this board runs, as well as the board itself.

Well then, it's no wonder I'm not freaking out. I've been using their boards on various sites for 10 years. Then there was Google Groups...kinda tells a story, doesn't it?

WTF? Did your dire financial situation force your to sell your sarcasm detector?

I know I could afford to be 'Elite', hell I make more than $700 a month, I just think it's divisive and stupid, as just about everyone else on this board does to judging by how active that forum is......

I agree the search can be pretty bad.

In a pinch use Google. If you're searching for "touring bikes" type into Google:

site:bikeforums.net touring bikes

Just swap out 'touring bikes' for whatever you're searching for.
