I have a new (old) SID SL, and I just was wondering how often you would recommend checking the air pressure.

Also...how often should the whole thing be overhauled? Thanks.

Manitou (yea, what do they know) recommends every 2 years,

I would recomend checking and adjusting your fork pressure before every ride, since fork pressure can depend on trail conditions, which trail you're riding, length of ride, and how sore you are.

Rock Shox reccomends 50 hours between overhauls for the SID.

i have to say that I'm awfully impressed with how well my Minute 2:00 holds air. It can go months without losing even 1 psi.

haha, well, when manitous hold air, they hold air, but it seems from reviews (and i quote from a real story) that your lucky if you make it to a trail head before the piston blows out of your fork at 210 psi putting you in the hospital with a head and eye injury. Haha, iv taken some big drops on my manitou though, and havnt had any problems (my IT locked up once and i thought i lost all pressure, darn that scared me).

Indeed.

Of course, I put 12,000 miles on mine without ever opening it.

Then I replaced it. Just sayin'.

Edit: it never did lose any air.
