Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - New Clyde!

Hello All!

Found this forum a few weeks ago and it is quite the resource! I read forums for cars, trucks, audio & visual, etc, so it's no surprise that there are great bike forums! :)

A little background. I had a small bike when I was in grade school, riding all the time. I got older/bigger (starting my journey to Clydesdale-hood) and got a bigger bike. Then my Grandma got me a Murray 10-speed "Mountain" bike for my 11th birthday. :lol: My parents then got me a 175cc motorcycle for my 13th birthday . . . .

Now it's 12 years later and I've done nothing but sit on my butt since college. I'm 6'5" 250ish. My girlfriend, my Athena girlfriend, and I are looking at bikes now. I look forward to learning alot from everyone and everything on here!

The girlfriend isn't a member, and doesn't seem to want to join. She knows how many hours can be wasted on internet forums . . .

We're looking at several bikes, mainly between Trek, Raleigh, Cannondale. Kinda thinking hybrids types mainly for $ and the fact we haven't ridden in 10-15 years.

Raleigh - Her dad rides them. Been looking at the Detour Series (4.5?)
Cannondale - I like the fact they are made in the USA. I know that is changing, but it is important to me. Seem to have good components. Looking at Adventure Series, can't remember #.

LBS sells both. Her dad's shop can get us helluva deal on Raleighs, but is 2.5 hrs away. I want to buy local.

I don't mean for my first posts to be asking "Which bike" but at this point, that's all I have to contribute. :lol:

Welcome! Makes it more fun when your significant other wants to join in your riding. I know having my wife alone on our weekly rides makes it all that much more enjoyable, especially since it's a break away from our kids (whom I do love, but need a break from every once in awhile)!
