Actually it starts in Boiling Springs this year. And, it is this Saturday! Anyone else going?

Here are pictures from last year's ride (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=4613724&postcount=258).

I’ll be there around 7am. I’m doing the metric century with the optional Kings Gap climb. I looked at your pix pretty cool.

Have a nice ride.

I’ll be doing a short run after the ride either a 5k or 10k. That should be good a painful.

20 or so miles under cloudy skies
20 or so miles in steady rain (I stayed at the second rest stop while the lightning passed over)
25 miles in the drizzle & slop. For the last five miles, my drive train was getting increasingly louder despite having used "wet" lube.

Little traffic, few bikers for the remainder of the ride. Missed the hail by a few miles, didn't get struck by lightning and there were no tornadoes (sucess!). Now that I think about it, there wasn't any big, gusty winds like the forecast called for.

Rumor has it that one of the USMC riders redefined HTFU when one of their riders crashed in the rain and the rest kept right on going!

When most of the other riders waiting at the 2nd rest stop were contemplating calling it a day, my advice was: "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing".
