Utility Cycling - Got my tax rebate/incentive check!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is this ironic?

I've spent the last 2 weeks modifying an old rigid MTB to be my utility bike. I have it about 90% completed, just waiting to the new B17 to arrive today or tomorrow. Anyway I did this for fun but also to use for running errands around town as a way to use my car less. My first errand with it was to go to the bank to deposit my tax rebate check.

Many of the goverment policies have made it neccesary to cut back or eliminate driving, not all bad. But it just seems rather ironic that as I make changes to cope with the economic realities, the goverment sends me a check. I laughed all the way to the bank and back...on my bike!:D

Not bike related question:
Why are they still using check? My tax refund goes straight into the bank (netbank) and I can spend it on tyres, tyres and more tyres from there..
Just wondering

If you've gotten a tax refund transfered electronically in the past, they have the route to transfer the new refund. Some of us have had to actually PAY on April 15th, and even though it was paid electronically, we still have to wait for a paper check.

Or some of us just don't trust the government and want the paper physically in our hands...
