Training & Nutrition - Should I drool?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Yeah,
dumb question. What can i say? I like dumb questions... A new Polar speedo will
give you an efficiency rating. I shudder to think what mine would be. Anyway...

I don't know man. It seems kind of cool and all, but I'm not really convinced of the practical use. Can anyone actually say that we've built our watts to the most we're capable of? Or that our VO2Max is as high as it can possibly get? I doubt it. And efficiency doesn't necessarily equate to speed. 200 watts at 25% efficiency isn't any more than 200 watts at 21% efficiency.
If you are into racing this may be helpful but for the average cyclist out there what good is it. I ride becuase I love to ride and for fitness. I know if I'm fit or not. Right now I can do a century with 6,000 ft of climbing no problem. Do I need this thing? No.

There is no way it can know your efficiency - none. It also cannot know, "...percentage of left/right power output..." as is claimed. Just another Polar marketing gimmick (i.e. lie). Like Calories and HR zones based on age and weight. – TF
